Work Experience Program (WEP)
Many refugees are work capable but may not be ready for the workforce because of their English skills or lack of transportation.
Those who are work capable but are on temporary assistance are expected to perform in the Work Experience Program (WEP) which is designed to train them in punctuality, teamwork, taking instruction, dependability and other work skills while they improve their English. RRRS has been a participant in this program, helping refugees experience office work, construction and maintenance, and special skills such as sewing through Rochester Refugee Sewing and Repair. The overall goal is to get the participant into productive work. RRRS is well equipped to help refugees in WEP because of the connections we have made with area employers.
